We have a robust training and development program available to every employee, available through face to face classes and an on-line learning platform.
We are proud to offer one on one coaching support designed to grow an employee’s leadership potential, assist with transitions to new roles and responsibilities and leverage an employee’s strengths and abilities to create change that positive impacts their level of influence and credibility. The Westervelt Company was awarded the Southeast Coaches Association’s 2010 Prism Award, recognizing organizational excellence through coaching.
The Westervelt Company provides mentoring opportunities by pairing employees with mentors who can offer insight, experience and know-how in enhancing another person’s knowledge and skills.
Life Sustainable Program

Our health insurance programs are designed to help employees and their families with medical expenses, including hospital coverage, major medical and dental. Employees are eligible for coverage beginning on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
The Westervelt Company provides life insurance at no cost. Other types of life insurance offered include spouse and dependent life insurance, accidental death insurance.
We offer both short- and long-term disability plans for salaried employee, and short-term disability plans for hourly employees.
Employee Assistance Program
Our program provides employees and their families with help when they need it. A voluntary, professional and confidential service offers medical resources such as counselors, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and individual and group practitioners.
Tax Free Spending Accounts
Employees can pay for certain health and dependent care expenses with tax-free dollars.
Savings and Investment Plan
After 60 days of employment, Westervelt employees are eligible to participate in the savings and investment plan. This 401(k) plan includes before-tax and Roth 401(k) after tax dollars, and Westervelt offers a company match which is vested after two years of employment.
Team Incentive Plan (TIP) or Gainsharing (Westervelt Lumber employees).
Eligible employees can receive a bonus, which is calculated on a combination of company and group performance.
After a year of employment, employees are eligible for educational assistance.
Full time employees are eligible to participate in our fitness program. This reimburses employees for fitness center membership when they meet participation requirements.
Holidays and Vacation Time
Employees receive paid company holidays, plus vacation time based on years of employment.
