POSITION: Forest Ranger                                            

DIVISION: Forest Resources                                        

LOCATION: Sipsey District

POSITION PROFILE:

This position supports the Silviculture Forester in accomplishing silviculture activities and with auditing the work of contractors who perform silviculture activities.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

1.     Associate degree in forestry desirable or high school diploma with a minimum of three years’ experience in forestry-related work.

2.     Hold or have qualifications to obtain Pesticide Applicator’s permit and Prescribed Burn Manager Certification.

3.     Commercial driver’s license and previous experience with heavy equipment preferred.

4.     Ability to perform strenuous work in a variety of environmental conditions.

5.     Good written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with employees and contractors.

6.     Good computer skills and ability to work with handheld computer devices and GPS equipment.  Experience with ArcMap, WTS and Microsoft Office preferred.

 

The qualifications of individuals applying for this position will be compared to the above criteria. Only those having qualifications that meet the selection criteria may be interviewed for the position.
